Photos from Spello
This ancient Roman city (Hispellum), is located in East-central
Umbria about 8 km (5 miles) South of Assisi.
It contains over two dozen churches and chapels; the most fascinating
one for my interests is the Cappella Tega,
since its vaulted ceiling contains very striking paintings of the Four
Evangelists together with their traditional symbols.
For more information, see also my webpage on the Symbols
of the Four Evangelists.
