Israel's
Deal With
The Antichrist
and the
Temple
Rebuilt
Hagee believes that Israel will sign
a seven year peace treaty with the Antichrist using the verse, "he shall
make a strong covenant with many for one week, and for half of the week
he shall make sacrifice and offering cease" (Daniel 9:27). The beginning
of the seven year treaty is the start of the seven years of tribulation.
After three and a half years Hagee believes the AntiChrist will break the
the seven year treaty by stopping the temple sacrifices and offerings.
Hagee says that the Antichrist will allow the Jewish people to rebuild
the Jerusalem temple and tear down the Dome of the Rock (3rd most holiest
place for Muslims) since the Bible states that "he (AntiChrist) takes his
seat in the Temple of God, declaring himself to be God" (2 Thess. 2:4).
Therefore it is assumed from this passage that the Jerusalem Temple must
be rebuilt in order for the Antichrist to take his seat in the Temple of
God.
Here Hagee makes several assumptions
that are not explicitly stated in scripture. Hagee assumes the Jerusalem
Temple must be rebuilt on the fact if it is known that the Antichrist will
stop sacrifices and offerings at the mid-point of the Tribulation, then
it is assumed that the Jewish sacrifices must had to be started. Also Hagee
believes that the Antichrist will take over the temple, thus implying that
the temple must be rebuilt. And Hagee believes that the Dome of the Rock
must be torn down so that the Temple can be rebuilt.
One can see the cleaver use of scripture
that Hagee employs to create a series of assumptions that he passes off
as fact. He does not take into account the historical circumstances in
which certain verses were written for.
