RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE LYRICS

Song: New Millenium Homes
Album: The Battle of Los Angeles

Hungry people dont stay hungry for long
They get hope from fire and smoke as the wheat grows strong
Hungry people dont stay hungry for long
They get hope from fire and smoke as they reach for the dawn
Tha spirit of Jackson
Now screams through tha ruins
Through factory chains And tha ghost of tha union
Forgotten remains
Disappear to their new homes
Tha knife tha thrust
Tha life burns to the raw bone
Tha blood on the floor of the tear is still dryin
Cover the spread sheets
Tha Dow Jones skyin
Cell block live stock
Tha bodies their buyin
Old south order
New northern horizon

Violence in all hands
Embrace it if need be
(Violence in all hands, embrace it if need be)
Livin been warfare
I press it to CD
(Livin been warfare, I press it to CD)     (REPEATS)

A fire in the masters house is set
A fire in the masters house is set
A fire in the masters house is set
A fire in the masters house is set

Hungry people dont stay hungry for long
They get hope from fire and smoke as the wheat grows strong
Hungry people dont stay hungry for long
They get hope from fire and smoke as they reach for the dawn

Yo, Yo

Check tha high tech terror
Yes tha new order athletes
Peer into tha eyes of tha child already on trial
Armies rippin families apart
Get em on file
Convictions fit tha stock profile
All tha while films of dogs
Cutting through homes
Ripping skin from bones
Yes tha new millennium homes
Privatizing through private eyes
An era rising
Of tha old south order
New northern horizon

Violence in all hands
Embrace it if need be
(Violence in all hands, embrace it if need be)
Livin been warfare
I press it to CD
(Livin been warfare, I press it to CD) (REPEATS)

A fire in the masters house is set
A fire in the masters house is set
A fire in the masters house is set
A fire in the masters house is set

Song: Sleep Now in the Fire
Album: Battle of Los Angeles

The world is my expense
The cost of my desire
Jesus blessed me with its future
And I protect it with fire
So raise your fists
And march around
Just dont take what you need
Ill jail and bury those committed
And smother the rest in greed
Crawl with me into tomorrow
Or Ill drag you to your grave
Im deep inside your children
Theyll betray you in my name

Hey, Hey
Sleep now in the fire
Hey, Hey
Sleep now in the fire

The lie is my expense
The scope of my desire
The party blessed me with its future
And I protect it with fire
I am the Nina The Pinta The Santa Maria
The noose and the rapist
The fields overseer
The agents of orange
The priests of Hiroshima
The cost of my desire
Sleep now in the fire

CHORUS

For its the end of history
Its caged and frozen still
There is no other pill to take
So swallow the one
That made you ill
The Nina The Pinta The Santa Maria
The noose and the rapist
The fields overseer
The agents of orange
The priests of Hiroshima
The cost of my desire
Sleep now in the fire

Yeaaaaaah

CHORUS

Analysis

Rage Against The Machine offer a view of the oppressed rising up to the oppressor. In "New Millenium Homes" Rage suggest that the new century should be a time for the little guy to fight back, or "rage against the machine" as it were. An apocalyptic tone is taken in "Sleep Now in the Fire", with those very words they suggest that the evil of society will get their punishment in hell. Thus, even though Los Angeles may seem utopic to some, Rage suggest that there's a seedy undercurrent of political corruption that must be dealt with. Thus, through revolution they present a solution to the oppression, hence the "battle". Thus, Rage's millennial vision is for the lower classes to change the times of the future that lies at hand. What do you think...

Do you agree with Rage's millennial vision?

Do you think that revolution or a battle is a possible solution for equality and freedom?

In the year 2000 is L.A or the U.S. closer to a utopia or dystopia?
