Evangelicals believe they are answering to the Great Commission Jesus gave to his disciples in Mark 16:15:
“Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation."

Evangelicals are always trying to grow in their understanding of the Gospel, to do good works and to spread the gospel through evangelization.

In 1978-79, Gallup estimated between 40 and 50 million Americans to be evangelicals (Tidball, 9).

30, 000 missionaries were serving overseas in 1980, eleven times more than the comparable number from liberal churches (Tidball, 9).

Personal Experience of the Gospel

Evangelicals are Christians who believe in the importance of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Evangelicals take very seriously the call to witness and to spread the Gospel, the good news, of the Lord.

Because they place a personal emphasis on their religious and spiritual lives, evangelical Christians do not always witness in groups or as part of a church, but evangelize to those around them.
