The Empty Tomb (John 20:1-10) - in
all four Gospels, one or two angels/messengers appear to one or more
women at the empty tomb; only in the Fourth Gospel do Peter and the
"Beloved Disciple" also run to the tomb
Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene (John
20:11-18) - in the Synoptic Gospels, the angelic messengers appear
to more than one woman; in Matt 28:9-10 Jesus himself also appears
to the women; but only in John's Gospel does Jesus appear to Mary
Magdalene alone at the tomb
